Bar Settings
Bar settings are similar to channel settings, a metal bar is used to hold the 
diamond in place on two sides. The metal bars are formed into a “u” or “v” shape to accommodate the diamond shape. Sometimes bar settings are used to create a line of gems, with a bar placed in between each gem to secure them in place. Although this setting is more common in men’s rings, it is also used in certain women’s ring designs.
One drawback to bar settings is that they can easily come loose, the diamonds can also be chipped on the exposed edges.
